In the beginning of the month Durga Puja will be celebrated while the month will end with the fireworks of Diwali.

Durga Puja: Welcoming the Goddess

Durga Puja is a festival that embarks the win of good over evil. Durga Maa visits her devotees during the auspicious month of Ashwin.  Although the puja is celebrated for ten days, Mahalaya, Shasthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Asthtami, Maha Navami and Vijayadashami are most important days. The preparations begin months before. Social gatherings, shopping, decorations, lighting, dance and pandal-visiting, and lots of other activities are there that bring people together. The festival ends with immersion of Goddess Durga in water.  Durga Puja is deeply embedded in our culture and life.

Diwali- The Festival of Lights

Diwali is a festival that is celebrated 14 days after Durga Puja. People decorate their homes with lights, candles and earthen lamps. Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi are worshipped on this day. On the night of Diwali, people burst crackers and other fireworks. Diwali is followed by other festivals like Bhai Duj.

Festival time is the time when families and friends come together after a long time.
